What to Expect From Therapy
Therapy with me is a calm, consistent space where you don’t have to hold everything together. It’s a place to slow down, breathe, and explore the emotional patterns that sit underneath your anxiety, people-pleasing, boundary struggles, and self-abandoning behaviours.
This work is steady, grounding, and deeply supportive, not rushed or overwhelming. We go at your pace, with compassion and clarity.
How Therapy Works
A Safe Space to Explore What’s Really Going On
In our sessions, you’ll have a confidential, non-judgemental space to talk openly about what’s happening in your life.
We explore how you’re experiencing the world, the thoughts and emotions that feel heavy, and the deeper patterns behind them, especially if you’ve spent years pleasing others or putting yourself last.
This isn’t about blaming the past.
It’s about understanding how your history shaped the anxiety, overthinking, and relationship patterns you’re living with now.
Building Self-Awareness and Seeing Blind Spots
Much of people-pleasing, boundary difficulty, and low self-worth happens outside conscious awareness.
Together, we slow things down so you can:
notice the moments you abandon yourself
understand why “no” feels terrifying
see why certain relationships feel familiar
recognise where anxiety is trying to protect you
understand the emotional rules you learned growing up
Therapy becomes a sounding board, helping you connect the dots you’ve never been able to name.
What Sessions Look Like
Weekly 1 hour online sessions
We meet at the same time each week to create consistency and emotional safety, essential for long-term change.
Attuned, relational conversation
Sessions are warm, reflective, and centred on what you’re feeling and noticing right now.
Exploration, insight, and gentle challenge
Some weeks feel clear and light. Others feel tender or tiring. Both are part of the process.
Real growth happens through steady, honest work, not quick fixes.
A focus on emotional patterns, not just symptoms
We go beyond surface-level anxiety tools to understand why you think, feel, and behave the way you do.
This is how lasting change happens.
The Flow of Therapy
Therapy is not a set of steps to complete, but a steady process that unfolds over time. While everyone’s work is different, this is the rhythm many clients experience.
Beginning Where You Are
We start with your life as it is now, the areas you are struggling with, what feels stuck, confusing, or out of alignment. Together, we pay close attention to what wants to be understood.
Using curiosity, intuition, and careful listening, we begin to notice patterns as they emerge. At times, this may include exploring dreams, images, symbols, memories, or words and phrases that stand out for you. These are often clues to where old patterns began and where your inner growth is wanting to move next.
Rather than analysing your life from the outside, we allow meaning to unfold from within, helping your experience start to feel coherent rather than self-critical or flawed.
Reconnecting with Yourself
As understanding deepens, attention naturally turns inward. You begin to recognise your needs, feelings, and internal boundaries more clearly, particularly those that were overlooked, discouraged, or unsafe to express earlier in life.
This stage is less about effort or change, and more about relationship: learning to listen to yourself with curiosity and compassion. Over time, self-trust and self-worth begin to grow, not because you are trying to improve yourself, but because more of you is being allowed into awareness and care.
Growing Beyond Old Patterns
As this internal connection strengthens, old patterns begin to loosen. You may find that you are no longer organising your life around other people’s expectations in the same way. Boundaries start to feel more internal and less effortful.
Relationships often become more mutual and clearer, and you gain greater emotional freedom to respond rather than react. Choices are made with more intention, guided by a growing sense of what feels true and right for you now.
